About the Falcon's Eye
The Falcon’s Eye: Theatre at Folsom Lake College is the name of the new theatre arts program at Folsom Lake College. In 2007, Folsom Lake College hired local professional theatre artist David Harris to create and grow their new Department in Theatre Arts and Cinema. Since then, Assistant Professor Harris has created a full curriculum of theatre and cinema arts classes that is in the process of being rolled out, and hired our first Adjunct Professor of Theatre Arts to assist in bringing these classes to the community, Capital Stage Artistic Director Stephanie Gularte. He also shepherded the first production of theatre arts directed and acted entirely by students in the Folsom Lake College Theatre Department in the fall of 2007, Late Night Lake Acts: An Evening of Plays by David Ives and has directed the program’s first mainstage production, Reckless. The Department of Theatre Arts currently produces plays at Vista del Lago High School, just around the corner from FLC’s main campus. The Falcon’s Eye is looking forward to moving into our permanent home, the state-of-the-art, multi-million dollar Visual and Performing Arts Complex, which is being constructed on our main campus with a completion date of fall 2010.
With an exciting variety of theatre and cinema arts classes to come, A.A. degree programs in theatre, acting, design, and technology, a one-of-a-kind certificate program designed in association with the apprenticeship program of the theatrical stage hands union, a full production calendar of mainstage plays, a summer improvisational theatre festival, and hosting an important new local motion picture festival including FLC-student-created movies, the fledgling program in Theatre and Cinema Arts at Folsom Lake College is poised to take a prominent position in the performing and visual arts in region.
